Aeturnum College of Embalming
We are Aeturnum College of Embalming and we deliver high-quality embalming tuition in accordance with the British Institute of Embalmers (BIE) educational standards. All our courses are run by Gareth Doherty; a BIE accredited tutor and the educational officer of BIE Welsh division. With nearly a decade of experience in the industry, Gareth is passionate about keeping up with and setting the highest possible standards of the profession and passing these principles on to any future embalmers, inspiring them to do the same.
We are located in Newport, South Wales, conveniently along the M4 corridor with great transport links around the area. While the practical aspect of the embalming course we offer will be taking place in one of two custom designed embalming theatres in the South Wales area, delivery of the theory component can be tailored to your individual needs.
Our aim is to offer tuition that suits you, be it distance learning, face to face teaching or a combination of both. As busy professionals we understand the importance of flexible training requirements and aspire to find a tailor-made learning solution for all our students.

During the Winter of 2015/2016 Gareth qualified as an embalmer through an accelerated learning scheme with Ray Hood Associates, an experience that saw him awarded the British Institute of Embalmers keenly contested and prestigious Trustees Award for achieving the highest Theoretical Exam mark for 2016.
Since qualifying Gareth has been an active member of the Welsh Division, holding various offices from Divisional Secretary, Chairperson, and currently holds the office of National Education Committee Representative for Wales.
In Spring of 2017 he gained the Award in Education and Training and began working toward and successfully passing the BIE Tutor Training program in the summer of 2018. Shortly after the commencement of his probationary course in the Autumn of 2019 the COVID-19 pandemic created some interesting challenges to overcome in the delivery of both practical and theoretical tuition. The successful completion of the probationary course in summer of 2022 saw him receive full accreditation from the BIE. This led to the formation of the Aeturnum College of Embalming in October 2022 offering bespoke learning solutions adapted to your individual needs.
